Porsche agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement resolving claims regarding defects in certain vehicle sunroof draining systems, which led to costly repairs for vehicle owners and lessees.
The Porsche sunroof settlement benefits current and former owners and lessees of 2015-2023 Porsche Cayenne, 2015-2023 Porsche Macan or 2014-2023 Porsche Panamera vehicles equipped with sunroofs.
The Porsche class action lawsuit alleges the automaker manufactured certain vehicles with defective sunroof draining systems, leading to water leaking into the vehicles’ interiors. Plaintiffs in the case claim they were forced to foot the bill for costly repairs despite Porsche’s awareness of the issue.
Porsche is a luxury car brand based in Germany that imports cars through its North American branch.
Porsche hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the sunroof defect class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Porsche sunroof settlement, class members can receive a warranty extension, reimbursement for repair expenses and nonmonetary relief in the form of warranty coverage for certain repairs.
The reimbursement available for repair expenses is based on the age and mileage of the vehicle at the time of the covered repair with different reimbursement rates for vehicles less than 6 years old with less than 80,000 miles and vehicles more than 6 years old or with more than 80,000 miles. Class members can submit a claim for additional reimbursement for money spent addressing the defect. Any reimbursement will be reduced by any goodwill, other amount or concession paid by an authorized Porsche dealer or any other entity.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Jan. 5, 2025.
The final approval hearing for the Porsche class action lawsuit settlement is scheduled for March 27, 2025.
The claim form deadline is Feb. 4, 2025.
